Yes — and significantly more enjoyable than at its 2018 peak. Visitor numbers recovered slowly after COVID and have not returned to pre-2019 levels. Alona Beach currently feels quieter and more pleasant than it has in years. The reef is in good condition, the dive operators are well-run, and the beachside restaurant scene is excellent. What is the best time to dive in Panglao and Balicasag?

Dive visibility peaks from January through April (dry season) — typically 20–30 metres on the Balicasag wall. The turtle cleaning station is year-round. November and December are also excellent months. June through September brings some reduced visibility from runoff, but diving continues year-round and Balicasag's wall diving is rarely affected by weather in the same way as open-water sites.

Can I visit the Chocolate Hills as a day trip from Panglao?

Yes — easily. The Carmen viewpoint for the Chocolate Hills is approximately 60–70 kilometres from Panglao, about 60–75 minutes by private van.
