Absolutely not. While General Luna is the base for Cloud 9 surf access, the majority of villa guests are not serious surfers. Island hopping to Naked Island and Guyam Island, Sugba Lagoon day trips, the food and coffee scene, and simply relaxing in a beautifully designed private villa with a pool are all excellent reasons to stay in General Luna without touching a surfboard. Surfing is an option, not a requirement.

Siargao has two very different seasons that suit different travelers. March through October is peak surf season — strong southeast trade winds create powerful waves at Cloud 9. This is the preferred time for surfers. November through February is the calmer season — less wind, more stable weather, better conditions for island hopping and Sugba Lagoon. Cloud 9 surf break is approximately 2km north of General Luna's main town area along the coastal road. By tricycle it takes 5–10 minutes; by motorbike (the local preference) it's a 5-minute ride through coconut groves. Direct flight to Siargao (SAB)

Daily direct flights from Manila to Sayak Airport (SAB), Siargao. AirAsia, Cebu Pacific, and Philippine Airlines all operate this route in peak season. The airport is 20 minutes from General Luna by tricycle or private transfer.

From Cebu

Cebu–Siargao direct flights operate seasonally. The overnight ferry is popular with budget travelers but not practical for luxury villa guests. We always recommend the direct flight.
